Living Social Information

Congratulations on your purchase of our Living Social Deal!
We look forward to having you come out and experience the joy of horseback riding with us.

Before you come, you probably have a few questions for us. We will hopefully answer most of them on this page but feel free to contact us if you have additional questions.

I bought two lessons for two people, can they ride together?

No, these are private lessons and we start all our riders in private lessons until they can safely control a horse on their own. However, they can be used back-to-back with the two people sharing some of the work. That does mean it may not add up to two hours total.

What if the two people have experience riding?

Usually if people have experience, we set them up with an evaluation lesson, however those are not offered with the Living Social deal. If you think that your experience is enough to ride together, I encourage you to call and give a detailed history of your experiences and discuss options.

I would like to setup my lesson for this week or weekend if possible?

Probably not possible. During the school year, after school times and weekends are premium and with lots of regular students and Living Social Deals being scheduled, be prepared to need at least a week or more wait in scheduling lessons. Tuesday - Friday we teach from 11am to 7pm and Saturday - Sundays we teach 10am to 3pm. Those times change during the summer months and will be updated near the end of the school year.

We are going to wait until the summer to schedule our lessons.

That is fine and we understand the desire to want to do this in nice weather. We just ask to schedule in advance! The summer is our Show Season, which means that we are gone a fair amount of weekends, our lesson times change and we get super busy with regular students squeezing every last lesson they can out of summer. For the summer it is possible to have two weeks before the next open lesson time!

What do we need to bring to our lesson?

Great question! All you need to bring is your Redemption Code from Living Social, appropriate riding shoes and yourself! We provide all the gear for the horse and ASTM/SEI Certified Riding Helmets for everyone. Anyone coming with you should also wear close-toed shoes because if it's not wet and muddy around the barn, it is probably dusty. Most of the pathways are gravel only.

Do we have to buy riding boots for the lesson?

No. We understand they are expensive and you're not even sure if you'll continue riding. We have made up a guide for you to make finding the ride shoe easy. If you do decide to continue riding after your lesson, your own riding boots and helmet are required.

What will the lesson involve? Will we ride for the whole hour?

No the lesson is not all riding. We at Iron Horse RA teach more than just riding, we teach horsemanship. That means part of your lesson will be learning how to get your horse ready and putting your horse away after the lesson (grooming and tacking). Expect roughly 30 minutes of riding time.

What if I am late to the lesson? Miss the lesson? Or have to reschedule less than 24 hours in advance?

If you are late to the lesson that will be taken out of your lesson time. You are allotted 1 hour on the schedule and we share our space with 3 other Trainers who also have lessons. We cannot move lessons back without proper notice as it effects our schedule and other Trainer's schedules.

If you miss the lesson or call to cancel/reschedule within 24 hours of the lesson, our cancelation policy stands and the lesson will be forfeit. We are sorry for any inconvenience but we are very strict on this policy with all our students.
